Doctor en Medicina y Cirugía de profesión, se inicia en la Canofilia en 1982; siendo su primer ejemplar de exhibición un Pinscher Miniatura.
Mas adelante, para 1985, comienza con la crianza y exhibición de la raza Dogo Argentino; raza con la que obtuvo innumerables triunfos, entre los cuales podemos mencionar múltiples Campeones Nacionales, Regionales, Internacionales y Gran Campeones; entre ellos el Dogo Argentino # 1 de Estados Unidos en el año 1990. También con los Pinschers Miniatura ha recibido varios premios y campeonatos, incluyendo el Campeonato Mundial de el año 1997.
Al presente, el Dr. Echevarría-Cofiño es el PRESIDENTE de el Puerto Rico Kennel Club; club miembro de el American Kennel Club, posición que ocupa desde el año 1998.
Miembro de la Federacion Canofila de PR por muchos años, colaborando en el Mundial '97, Las Americas, Internacionales, etc.; incluyendo el 2do. & 7mo. Congreso para Jueces y Criadores de Las Americas y el Caribe '02 y '07.
Fue Miembro Fundador de el Argentine Dogo Club of America de Estados Unidos; y Ex-Vicepresidente de el Caribe Kennel Club de PR, club miembro de el American Kennel Club; organización que en el año 1994 le confiere el President's Award, en reconocimiento a sus labores en la Canofilia.
En el año 2006 fue Juez evaluador en Quito, Ecuador; de la primera promoción de jueces all rounder de AERCAN (Asociación Ecuatoriana de Registros Caninos).
Actualmente, es Juez Internacional de Todas las Razas (FCI/FCPR), habiendo juzgado en múltiples ocasiones en: Argentina, Australia, Brasil, Canadá, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Ecuador, Estados Unidos, Guatemala, Islas Vírgenes Británicas, México, Nueva Zelanda, Panamá, Perú, Polonia, Puerto Rico, República Dominicana, Venezuela, etc. ; tanto en exposiciones Nacionales, como Internacionales de todas las Razas y Especializadas.
Como Juez Visitante; en los Estados Unidos, está licenciado por el American Kennel Club (AKC) y tiene licencia #: 82464; también en Canadá está licenciado por el Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) y tiene licencia #: 5702.
Además es el Primer Juez FCI de Latino América en ser Miembro Activo de la American Dog Show Judges (ADSJ) y de la Canadian Dog Judges Association (CDJA).

Dr. Rene Echevarria-Cofiño is a Physician and Surgeon, who has been involved in the dog world since 1982, being a Miniature Pinscher his first show dog.
Later on, in 1985, he started breeding and showing Argentine Dogos. He obtained numerous National, Regional, International, and Great Champions titles. He was awarded with the # 1 Argentine Dogo in the United States Title in 1990. Additionally, with Miniature Pinschers, he obtained many other Championships as well, earning the World Champion Award in 1997.
From 1998 to the present, Dr. Echevarria-Cofiño has served as the PRESIDENT of the Puerto Rico Kennel Club, which is a member club of the American Kennel Club. For many years he has been an active Member of the Federación Canófila de Puerto Rico, collaborating in the 1997 World Dog Show, Las Americas Tournaments, and several other International Expositions. Furthermore, he collaborated in the 2nd and 7th Annual Congress Meeting for Judges and Breeders for Las Americas and the Caribbean in the years 2002 and 2007.
He is a co-founder of the Argentine Dogo Club of the United States of America and a former Vice-President of the Caribe Kennel Club of Puerto Rico, also a member club of the American Kennel Club. In 1994, this organization (CKC) recognized him with the President's Award issued for his dedication and help to the canine development in Puerto Rico.
In 2006, he was the evaluating judge for the First Promotion of All Rounder Judges of AERCAN (Asociación Ecuatoriana de Registros Caninos) in Quito, Ecuador.
Actually, he is an All Breed International Judge, FCPR/FCI Licensed, having Judging assignments in many countries such as: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, United States, Venezuela, among others in Nationals, Internationals, and Specialties.
As a Visiting Judge; in the United States he is an American Kennel Club (AKC) Licensed Judge and his # is: 82464; as well as in Canada, and his Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) License # is: 5702.
Also he is the first FCI Latin American Judge to become an Active Member of the American Dog Show Judges (ADSJ) and the Canadian Dog Judges Association (CDJA).
